Pam Watkins for tracing me and giving me so much help..
Audrey Truman, for all her wonderful kn owledge of the family.
My older Brother Ken for his hard work that I have copied and for the fun I have had e-mailing him with my romantic stories and his patience in bringing me back to earth.
Special thankyou, to Madeleine B Ellis and her book
Marie- Celestine Countess de la Roche.
The story of the Pillow baby has been so exciting.
The Huckstep Family who are helping me in the Quest to prove the story is not fiction.
(Where the Burchett Family is concerned I believe that they are really from France and their House seems to have been used to give shelter to French Escapee's That is how they became Involved with the La Roches and also I believe they work in the Furniture Trade with the La Roches and I will write about this soon as I describe my family.
Also Thanks to
Sam Ellis
Mark Balderacchino for letting me into his tree and the wonderful stories of his there.
Paul Blomeley and his father Peter we have had a lot of fun e-mailing.
Peter La Roche for all the info you have shared
My Cousin Keith Brimblecombe for the La Roche stamp which he had tucked away in the loft. Oh what treasures we have tucked away in the lofts.
His Daughter Sharon Howes
And Canterbury Cathedral for all the help you gave me on my visit there
All the Kirsopps and Nye’s that have contacted me
The Wares
and above all my husband Ray for his patience while I have been on the computer day and night to collect all the information I can.
It has been wonderful to meet you all.
This farm is at Petham and I will check it out if it was a poultry farm in 1917 (I have been told 31/8/07 by a Local Man working in the Registry office at Canterbury that the Farm called Stonegate was a poultry farm)
but on the census the Huckstep family are involved with this farm as well
they keep coming into the story
The Hucksteps have a very strong hold on our La Roches
The Farm at Swingfield was in the hands of the family and they spread out all in Farms at Canterbury and Thanet and even the Isle of Sheppy (which I can see from My window as it is right opposite Seasalter so they would row in a boat to visit the their family) giving work to all the family.
The family at Deal might have played apart in bringing the La Roches to England by landing them onshore on the beach at Deal.
They marry into the family as well.
I hadn’t connected the Families of Hucksteps born at Bridge with Maude's farm at Petham until I started looking for her farm and then found that Petham is in the District of Bridge and you just walk up the Road to Canterbury along Nackington Lane (I did this while watching the Tour de France would you believe)
Everything fits together like a jigsaw.
